Throw away the game in week 16 or earlier?

After watching Miami get destroyed by the Bills today they can probably rest a few next week.

I say they rest starters in the second half of games that they are winning handily.

Seeing how Buffalo handled Miami, the Pats still have a game up there!  Is that a game to throw away?  If anything, Pats need to get the second seed in the AFC to get at least one home game in the playoffs.  There are no throw- away games until that is secured and there is no chance to catch the Colts.

First, they need to go for the bye... that's a rest for everyone.  But if that doesn't seem possible, then the rest strategy begins, but not untill then.

If we win tomorrw nite, then I'd say we'll really be going for the bye.

The AFC East is basically won today.  Miami is 2.5 games back, but they are now behind in the divisional record tiebreaker.  Beating New England in Miami isn't going to bring that tiebreaker back for Miami.  Prayer might help.

Now what's important is a bye week.  Passing San Diego won't be easy, as S.D. is wallowing in the bunny patch for the rest of the year.  However, S.D. isn't the world's greatest team as measured by who has beat them and how badly.  I think New England has a shot of outracing S.D. to the bye week.

Cincinnati has the same record but a tougher schedule.

sitting out players is a good thing, and bad.its good for the rest, and keeping them healthy, but sometimes it can hurt the momentum of a team playing well.
