No matter what happens in this series, this is one of my all time favorite Sox teams (1963-2013).
I agree, but count me out on Farrell... Learning the trade... Team won in spite of his inept in-game  moves... Tonight is eloquent evidence...this game, at this moment should not have been open!!!

Boston isnt playing badly -they are being shut down by an awesome pitching staff - 3 200k starters on one team? Are we such homers that we can appreciate their staff? With the exception of Jf falling asleep and letting Clay continue to throw meatballs, the Sox have been playing hard. The simple fact that Detroit is better.
The Oakland As did not have this much trouble scoring runs against Detroit now did they.  So great to stay optimistic but I am frustrated that this team can not score runs like the As did.

    The lesson of 2013:

Yes, you can build a team that is not only competitive in the regular season but wins nearly 100 games and scores the most runs in the majors, by picking at the scrap heap... but you can't build a team that has a real shot at winning the World Series that way.

The Red Sox will overpay for an ace this offseason. They will be justified in doing so. They got the absolute most they could out of the situation they faced after the September collapse. They did the right things. They took the right approach to get back to competitiveness, but now they need to load up with legitimate stars who can deliver in the postseason, without blowing $100 million on guys who can't perform under pressure.

Good luck. It won't be easy.

    Meantime, Go, B's.

I do not need to hear Joe Buck say "that's another strikeout"!

12 more strike outs.  What did the Sox do this last week?  It seems like they are lethargic and cant see the dam ball.  They clearly werent prepared to play baseball this weekend.

What "ace" is a free agent?  Tampa isn't trading Price to Sox.

You mean legitimate stars like Gonzo, Crawford, and Beckett?

Gomes : Good teammate. Nice beard. Overmatched against Scherzer. Should not be in there.

Funny how expectations change. If I had predicted back in April that this SOX team would be in the ALCS, I would have been laughed off the board, But all SOX fans would have been hoping i was right.

People just can't be happy.  They are criticizing guys that have tried so hard all year, who love playing for the Red Sox and who played so well.  Frustration can cloud the brain and the loyalty.

Well here we go lets see what this team is truly made of.  Are they going to score some runs and threaten or roll over.

Difference between Leyland and Farrell is Leyland manages and Farrell just stands and watches.
Agreed,  Leyland would have pulled Buch much sooner since it was obvious that the rubber band was loose.
