Napoli looks SO bad at the plate. He's overmatched.

Leyland will walk Ortiz all series long with Napoli not even hitting a foul ball.

seems like Verlander can't keep his changeups and curveballs over the plate..........fastballs are where he is getting the strikes and fouls....he is throwing fastballs on all his first pitches.

both team swinging early...looks like it's going to be who reaches who first..Lackey and Verlander both around the plate so far....someone might attempt a bunt soon i think..

All that to swing at a ball. Unreal. I will say this, he did a good job driving up the PC.

Naps, Salty,Gomes, and Middlebrooks are all strike out machines, so we really shouldn't be surprised when they do strike out. Just swing hard in case you hit it.

    [/QUOTE]

No surprise.  My outburst was on the swing-hard-in-case-you-hit-it just miss from Gomes.

Gomes went after that last pitch like he was protecting the runner.

This. I've noticed that too. He's off. And the pitch count indicate that. The telling thing com scherzer was him saying he was cooked at 107. Done. These guys are getting tired. It's up to the Sox bats to hammer them. Starting today. They've had a bunch of good pitches to hammer, but I think they are sacrificing hits for high counts.

Verlander is hitting about 94-95 on the fastballs...........dropping off to the mid 80's on offspeed stuff.....Sox bigs might want to get aggressive on the first pitch here and there...but continue to be patient.
