    All is not lost

4-4 within the division which is respectable since the team that does well within the division has a very good chance of the division title. Those 72 games are the season for the sox

All is not lost.  There is a long way to go.  Our record was worse at this point last year.

This club is a work in progress.  There are roles to be defined, injuries to endure and come back from, identity to be formed, dark emotional corners still to be swept, and Bobby Valentine.  There are those who understood that there would be struggle in this regard and that the process would require patience and the willingness to endure some hard knocks.  And then there are some that cannot accept failure on any level.

As usual, expectations were far too high, especially in light of the fact we are not fielding as good a team as we did the start of last year.
I believe the offense is good, the defense, adequate, the pitching mediocre.
I think if you compare BPs around the league, we don't compete. The SP should be solid enough but Buch remains a ?

The Tampa series definitely gives hope, but the Texas series lowered expectations somewhat.  Everyone wants to blame the hitting, but the pitching gave up 18 runs in game 1 and 6 in game 2 against a team that has the lowest ERA in the AL and .6 of a run lower than the 2d best ERA.
