But Bogaerts is only here to get his feet wet in postseason MLB.
Farrell (if he has any brains...and we know he does) will ride the horses that brought him this far. It would be folly to switch in midstream.
Drew will be at SS. Middlebrooks at 3rd.
I will be shocked if Middlebrooks sits, unless he has an injury.
This guy is as big a part of the Red Sox future as anyone, it would be a huge blow to his confidence if he is benched in favor of a player with limited experience. Consider also that the entire lineup is not hitting much....you can't bench them all.
You don't get put on the team during the post season to "get your feet wet"
He's here because he's a phenom and they believe he can help them win.
Do you think he got a START in an ALCS game to "get his feet wet"
but yeah.....no one is hitting, that is true.
How is he a phenom? What has he done that puts him the "phenom" class? He is a good player with a bright future but has not exactly been earth shattering. It isn't always who starts the game but often who finishes the game and last night did not see X at the end.
I'm not talking about ONE night or ONE!!! at bat. I'm talking about Xander Bogaerts as a product overall. Just because he didn't go 4/4 and hit 3 home runs is in no way an indictment on who he is, and how he has been regarded all around the minor league and scouting community; and that is a PHENOM.
Remember there is a world that exists before major league baseball.
