Tampa Bay wears their young pitchers with extreme over use before they hit FA that they have hard time repeating the success they had at Tampa in their new home.  Kazmir, Garza, anyone ?

There must be information on PC's as they bring them up into ML.

They deliberately delayed Myers debut to June so they can extend their control over him beyond what it might have been if he debuted in April.

To be fair, they need to resort to these things to stay within their frugal budget, I would be doing the same if I ran that club.

This is a warning to all baseball GM's and owners and the many stupid fans of baseball, particularly in the New Ireland area.

2016 earliest Free Agent, Rays will want 3 of your Elite Prospects, Dodgers might not have it. Rays will make sure they are going to succeed in the Majors.

Re: Avoid Trading for David Price, Like the Plague!

Nobody can make a trade until after the World Series concludes.

I am sure that nobody in Tampa Bay's front office is making phone calls trying to move Price right this minute. I am also sure that Cherrington's office is not concerned with this dumb rumour. What this guy would cost in trade would severly cripple any team trying to maintain or build on future success.

They aren't about to commit to Price any more than they made a move for Shields, who would've been a better fit with Boston as he is a Right Hand starter. But, the Sox really don't have the type of prosects the Rays would covet anyway.

And Remember, the Red Sox already have Lester and Doubrant and just traded to get the great Jake Peavy.

You make a really good point here.  We very well may have lost game 4 if Doubront or Dempster had started, and we'd have a sub .300 OPS SS.  Oh where would we be without Peavy.

    Good post.

    Good post.

While Peavy did his job, and I was impressed. He did start to run out of gas a little too soon.

Thankfully someone had the brains to acquire Breslow, who is effectively filling the gap from the 6th to 8th inning. Considering MLB mentality is to create only 6-inning starters, the middle relief guy and set-up guy has become the pivotal player on the roster, the pivotaL player who gets very little credit for doing his job. Breslow has became the new Mike Timlin. The guy who puts out the fire, but rarely gets a win or a save. Sort of like the NFL lineman who makes the key block and allows the QB or RB to get all the glory.

For a guy like this it starts with a kid like Profar, then your top 2 Pitching Prospects. Texas could be a possibilty.

In fact, Doubrant and Demspter may very well have done better than 5.2 IP and 1 run against the powerful RAys offense. And Drew is an embarrassing OPS SS in the 2012 playoffs and the 2013 playoffs, and no better than Iglesias in the 2013 season except that Drew costs 9.5 million for his sorry services.

Yes because how much better can you really do?  you can't give up that much less that ONE!!! run in 5.2 innings.

Doubront was at a season high for innings pitch and had given up MORE RUNS than innings pitched in the entire month of September and even after some rest looked shaky.

Dempster has been our worst pitcher ALL year and actually has worse numbers with 6+ days of rest.

Oh but of course are worst pitchers would have no-hit or shut out a team that was in the top half of every offensive statistical category in baseball.  That makes complete 100% sense.

    Once again you fail...

Re: Avoid Trading for David Price, Like the Plague!

If Doubront would have gone 5.2+ with ZERO runs after giving up more runs than innings pitched for an entire month then I assume Jon Lester should have given up -2 runs to the Rays.
