[Breaking News]Theo finally gone... 5 yrs worth more than 15 mils reports say

It seems Theo has agreed with Cubs for 5 yrs worth more than 15 mils.

D&C: Theo has 5-year deal with Cubs

WEEI's John Dennis reported Wednesday morning that Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein has agreed with the Cubs on a five-year deal worth more than $15 million.

According to Dennis' sources, the Red Sox granted the Cubs permission to talk with Epstein late last week. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of this week, following negotiations for compensation with the Red Sox, who have Epstein under contract for one more season.

The Cubs apparently have not settled on a title for Epstein, who served as Red Sox GM for nine seasons.

I am okay with prospects, assuming they are viable.

Question, what is Theo's current annual compensation? $3M for 5 years from Cubs, how much less would he have made here next year?

I just read that too on ESPN.  The Cubs know they have the leverage, Henry and Lucchino all but said last week that Theo was gone at the end of his contract anyway.  I believe what they said was "he won't be here forever".  I think the Cubs could say "we won't give you a thing" and the red sox would still let him walk.

All the Starlin Castro talk was humorous to me anyway...

Ramirez for Youk would be great. Mr. Tough Guy, who plays 100 games a year, has a BA diving and has become a cancer needs to go.

I'm just glad Theo is finally gone.
That alone puts the Red Sox back in contention for the AL East.

As long as the Red Sox are rid of Theo Epstein, any price is worth it.

InEpstein tried to get an extension with the Red Sox over the last year or more and was told no! Cubs now pay for the problem, and Theo must move his family! For the debacle he created, he is appropriately being run out of town on a rail because of no extension from the Red Sox.
