And to think John Henry said he wasn't in favor of signing Carl Crawford because the Red Sox had "too many lefthand batters."

Well, easy to say when a guy gets hurt and plays poorly.

Where is John Henry saying he wasn't in favor of signing Carp because he is a lefthand batter and the Red Sox really do not NEED another lefthand bat!???

You won't hear it. Because John Henry only comments on a "not liking" a player signing if the players tanks. He will be silent on this one, and now that he owns the Globe, the post will probably be deleted.

Or,  maybe it was because he was paying Crawford $19 million a year not to produce,  and Mike Carp only costs $500K and is producing for this team???

Carp is the anti CC.  He is absolutely nothing like the entitled CC.  He earns his minimal salary where as CC stinks up the place for an astronomical amount of money.  So glad Ben sent the entitled money grubbers away.  Now we have a real hard working team to cheer for and can appreciate.  Guys like Carp are heroes now on a team of hard hat type baseball players.

Napoli, Carp and Loney are all doing pretty close to the same as AGon, if not better.

Like I said at the time of the trade, 1Bmen are a dime a dozen.

Carp is probably the 4th best hitter on the team

I liked him when he was w/ Seattle - he killed us out there

He's only the 4th best hitter on the team when used selectively.  The Red Sox have maximized his utility.  It's doubtful he'd maintain this level of success as an everyday player.
