WELL, I DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THE PERCENTAGE ANYMORE CUZ THE AL EAST IS GETTING TIGHTER AND TIGHER AS THE SEASON GOES ON.  YANKEES ARE BACK IN THE RACE WHICH MEAN IT IS A FOUR TEAY'S WAY RACE NOW.

SOX JUST HAVE TO START WINNING ONE SERIES AT A TIME INCLUDING THIS WEEKEND.

SOX CAN NOT PAY ATTENTION HOW OTHERS ARE DOING CUZ THERE WILL BE ALOT OF GAMES THAT TWO AL EAST TEAMS WILL PLAY AGAINST EACH OTHER.

MORE SOX WIN THEIR OWN GAMES WHILE TWO OTHER AL EAST TEAMS KEEP SPLITTING UP SERIES, THAT WOULD GIVE A HUGE ADVANTAGE FOR THE SOX

The Tigers look to have the easiest schedule as they have 6 gms vs the CWS and 6 vs MIA & MN combined.

True, but one might say that is easier than playing the Yanks or Detroit at Fenway.

We have 6 games vs the Yanks: Tamp has 3.

We have 7 vs BAL: they have 3.

We have 3 vs Detroit: they have none.

They have 4 vs TEX: we have none.

    They have 3 @ LAA and 3 @ SEA: we have 2 @ COL.

White Sox have been playing a lot better lately too. Never notice teams like these because they had a disappointing season. Classic spoiler team for this time of year. They go to Boston, NY, then Balt.

One good thing we'll miss Sale.

With all the intradivisional games coming up now that 2.5 game lead over TB and 6.5 over Baltimore looks pretty good right now.

I know at lot can happen but if the Sox were 6.5 back at this point I'd be thinking/hoping/praying more for a WC spot than anything else.

Having the right to do something doesn't make it the right thing to do.

yes with the intradivisional games is coming up for Boston, but at the same time, Tampa goes on the west coast trip for 10 games while Baltimore goes to Bronx.   Sounded like all three AL East teams except maybe the Yankees are unlikely going to gain games on the Red Sox during the 10 days span.

But seriously, I just hope that Boston can start pushing three AL East teams back more than two or three plus more games by the time Boston goes to Bronx and to Tampa for the 7 games span next week!!

Really all Boston can do is just focus themselves and just win as many games as they can within the next two weeks just like they are now on three games winning streak.  Keep it going!!!

I respect the Rays and think they do a fantastic job considering their budget.

I never hope the Rays win, because I view them as out toughest AL opponent due to their two top lefty SP'ers. The only way I will ever root for them to win is if it means we won't have to face them in an earlier playoff round.

Sox lead of 2.5 games highest in long time, could we keep playing like we did in WC and last night?...the most positive sign at the moment is overcoming the loss column deficit, it means fate is in our hands, if we keep playing at a reasonable winning  pace, that is 0.580+, we dont have to look at scoreboard... there are signs everywhere of a refreshing chemistry, schedule is tough but reasonably within our grasp... Ceteris paribus ( as economists say), we could make it without too much noise...but lets all remember the goal is to win Division, wild card is a russian roulette which has to be avoided, hope and pray last WC trip was the watershed... go Sox!!!

Two out of three from Baltimore now and a chance for a sweep tonight pretty well breaks that "hex", especially given the way the Sox have won - a bludgening in the first game and late come from behind win in the second.

Next up:  Whether the Sox win tonight or not they have to take care of business against the CWS.  Beat the teams you can beat.

The WS have been on a bit of a roll lately. They're 16-11 this month.

But, the Sox do have to take it to them, while the Rays head out west, to play the A's.

Not going to be a picnic for them, by any means.

I think the Sox will add another game to their lead, this weekend.

my math is terrible but here is the formula:

    # of games left + 1 - # of games in front

    so i come up with:

    82+57 =139 games played

    162-139 = 23 games left

    23 + 1 = 24 - 5.5 = 18.5
