Oh, please. This sounds like the pap coming from the Sox TV broadcast booth.
Crawful is a disaster, and a tiny Spetember sample doesn't justify his stench.

Time to extend Ellsbury for 150 million, so Crawbury can create havoc and win more than 88 to 94 games.

This has got to be a record for sour grapes. Come on people? You begrudge Carl's perfoming well?

Here's the point - down the stretch Crawford is producing.

He was terrible in the June and July, but since the Sox were winning 70% of their games in June and July, did they need his bat?  But now, with Youk out, he's stepped up and is getting the job done.

That's more than anyone can say for Lackey.

Yes, he's done better in September, but guess what...

DMac has a better Sept OPS than CC! (.884 to .835).

CC is hitting at about his career OPS for over half a month. WOW!

Also, CC's .791 August OPS is nothing to write home about either.

Crawford bashers need to hush, we all know he has not lived up to his expectations but he is turning it around.. he is not the problem with the team.. the pitching is the big problem.. Wakefield needs to go to the pen... Pitching has been a disgrace in Sept!!!

    Re: Crawford in September

So, let me see if I understand....if CC doesnt hit....he is a Bum, but when he starts to hit he is still a Bum because a) it is too late, despite the fact that we are in a Pennant Race, or b) someone else has hit better than him in September. So using that logic, if next year he exceeed all his Career Averages, he will still be a bum, because he didnt hit last year and he still isnt hitting as well as Adrian Gonzalez. CC, unlike other underperfoming Sox has been a man about it and taken responsibility. Why not give him a break and if not support him and least not rip him when he does perform.

Player value is not based upon just post season. It is based upon entire body of work.

Post Ellsbury numbers all you want, just make sure you include career numbers and CS%. Ellsbury is overrated, Erstad or not.

He's actually at exactly career average OPS .775 since May 1.  If you thought he was worth $20M, you're bitterly disappointed.  If you thought he would be what he always has been, it's hard to gripe.  Crawford is not worth $20M, but Crawford and whatever we get for Ellsbury (who otherwise would have been untouchable) this winter may be.
