I don't get the purpose of the original post.
I like both players. And their season stats are basically even. Aviles has better slugging, and Scutaro has better OBP. Aviles has a better arm defensively, and I think is a bit better defensively and Scutaro, but both players are better defensively than they're given credit for by some.
Scutaro 107 G, 469 PA, 52 R, 20 2B, 3 3B, 5 HR, 43 RBI, .279 BA, .331 OBP, .376 SLG, .707 OPS
Aviles 103 G, 420 PA, 45 R, 24 2B, 11 HR, 52 RBI, .256 OBP, .283 OBP, .400 SLG, .683 OPS
And before that grand slam and seven RBIs, the offensive differential would have favored Aviles more in terms of run production.
