In response to Joebreidey's comment:
Sorry, but I don't agree. Middlebrooks should be in the lineup because we will need all the offense we can get and I think he is getting the short end of the stick. Drew has fielded well but not that well that we can afford to have an automatic out in the lineup. Go with Xander at short and WMB at third, which is exactly what the somewhat addled Farrell will just not do.
That implies that MB will add offense. If you add the end of the season to the playoffs, he is 12-81. That's about .150. There is no evidence to suggest that MB can outhit Drew at this point.
Just out of curiosity, Detroit has the identical problem. They aren't scoring, yet they still keep putting Iglesias out there, even though he is not hitting.
Excuse me, but there is a little bit of difference between Iglesias and Drew in two big ways:
1. Iglesias is hitting .300, 2 runs scored, an RBI, 2 SAC's, and only 2 K's. Drew is 1 for 17, 0 Runs, 0 RBI's and 8 K's. I wouldn't say .300 is not hitting.
2. Don't compare the fielding of Iglesias and Drew. Drew never makes that catch last night and a few of the other plays.
So in summary, it's not the identical problem. Far from it.
As I recall, Drew didn't make a defensive error that cost his team the game like Iggy did. And Drew's catch earlier in the series was just as good. And as I recall, Iggy couldn't make the play on Salty's game-winning hit in Game 2.
So can we please stop with this absurd notion that ONLY Iggy makes great plays, that Iggy makes EVERY play and NEVER makes a mistake. Drew did boot that one grounder earlier in the series but he's having a great series defensively and has been nearly automatic turning DP.
Iggy certainly is having a better series offensively, and good for him. But Drew is better than he's shown, so maybe he breaks out next game. Look how bad Napoli looked before his last two games.
