Robertson will demand Soriano $$$ in the future. Yanks only spending $33 mil. per yr. at third base, why not get another high paid player to back up ARod? It's only money.

I must have missed the part where the red flops players play for free.

    Isn't drew a 15M backup RF now?

Sure he hasn't pitched well but let's be honest.....16 innings is a pretty small sample size.

Furthermore, had Billy Martin fastened his seat belt instead of taking swigs of Jack Daniels, he wouldn't have gone thru the windshield and kissed a tree.  Oh well, we all got to go eventually.

Possibly, but i wouldn't put much stock in him for this year.  If anything he'd be an added bonus seeing as how Robertson and Bell would get the nod out of the pen over him.

I agree that those two would get the nod over him. But it's not like those two can pitch every day, so having soriano pitch well would be very important.

I'd still classify him as an added bonus because yes it's great for them if he pitches well but at the same time it's not end all be all if he doesn't.

how does heyman think that the yankees will be able to get bell at this point?

it is my understanding that all trades from here until the end of august have to be done AFTER a guy is put on waivers, and waivers work from the bottom most teams to the top teams (record wise).

i cannot imagine a guy like bell not being snapped up waaaaaay before the yankees would get a chance to claim him on waivers.  he only has a contract until the end of this season so money to get this guy for two months and the playoffs will not be an issue with even the most budget strapped teams who think that they are in the playoffs.

if another team claims him (i will go out on a limb here and guarantee that someone will) he can only be traded to that team or pulled back by the padres.

if the padres pull hm back they can keep him for the rest of the year or put him on waivers again.   if he goes on waivers for a second time, i still cannot imagine
him getting passed over by every team again with records not as good as the yankees.  and, even teams not in the playoff hunt would likely take him as well so that they could get the two draft picks next june.
