Will is coming around, anyone who is watching him over the last week can see the difference, he's hitting the ball hard, whether it's a double, homer or just a deep fly, he is swinging with authority again, also, for a small sample, hitting .304 in the last 7 days, lets hope this is the start of a summer tear.

396 feet the other way is the kind of power and talent he has in that swing. It's the most efficient producing power swing I've seen since Manny left.

Playing with bad ribs, this guy is a true keeper. The strikeouts should not be the focus, as long as he hits the ball out enough over the course of a full season. He's now on pace for 28 to 30 HR, which is remarkable given the injury he's playing with. If he can step it up and reach 35 to 40 HR this season, the playoff thin bubble might not pop. I would plan on moving him to 1st and bringing up Cecchini as early as next season.

It's a good thing the Yankees lost Tex and Jeter for the entire season. Unless Middlebrooks performs well, Red Sox are nothing but title pretenders in the 2013 playoffs.

Completely indefensible statement.  If the Sox have demonstrated nothing else this year, they have demonstrated that for short stretches no bat, not even Ortiz's, is essential to winning games.  August 19-25 the Sox took 4 of 6 from the Giants and Dodgers, on the west coast, with Ortiz basically a non-factor.

Nothing wrong with beating the drum for Middlebrooks, who does represent the potential for a strong righty bat in the lineup, but this year's Sox are nothing like the 2004 Sox with Papi and Manny in the 3 and 4 slots.  Middlebrooks had a great August, but not so great September.

But, as everyone knows, any player can get hot in the postseason.  You think it's Middlebrooks, but I think Drew is a better bet with his .867 OPS in August and .859 OPS in September.   Maybe we will both be right--or not.

    Too funny!

So, Middy wasn't importnat to be a bubble playoff team.

Papi did need to play 130+ games.

    And, pitching matters.

    Git it!

    LMAO

His 8th inning double was the key to last night's "miracle" comeback.

Ha ha, I knew this was coming.

It was a big hit.  But we also needed Ellsbury's walk and Pedroia's huge, clutch 2 out single to set it up for the king of clutch.

Ellsbury did nothing to get that walk. Smyly choked, big time, and couldn't hit the ocean from his bass boat.

But just yesterday, you chastized us for saying the Tiger's bullpen was weak.

Now, you blame the win on the Tiger's weak bullpen.

You're all over the map, clown. Just cut your losses and go away for a while again.

Remember when you went ballistic on hill for suggesting Middy might need time in AAA this year?

He needed time on the DL, due to injury, not due to "needs more time AAA this year". Drew's contract caused the domino affect.

"Middy's" double in Game 2, starting, was the difference in the series. If he does a "S. Drew", the Red Sox lose Game 2 and the series.

    [/QUOTE]

This tells it all folks. Of all that happened in the playoffs so far, softy still clings to the position that Middy was the key.
