    Moot point now

But if They let Ellsbury steal 3rd, he scores. Why don't they let this speed demon run? Pedroia is no having a great year, let's make something happen!

um, Pedrioa has been on fire and is currently on a 20 game hitting streak. You don't even risk taking the bat out of his hands.

Not really sure what you're talking about. Ellsbury went from first to third (stealing on the pitch) on Pedroia's single then scored on the wild pitch.

Ellsbury has the green light.  Francona was not holding him back.  Ells must not have been able to get a good read on the pitcher.

Others have already hit on it. Ellsbury isn't stealing as much because Pedroia is on fire. You don't risk losing the ducks on the pond when the guy at the plate is raking. Ells doesn't need to steal to get into scoring position as Pedroia isn't just a singles hitter, like Ichiro, but hits many doubles and now homeruns. He has an OPS of .874. In addition, Pedroia has become a walk machine, so now Ells will find himself at second with Gonzalez up, and he's currently the best in the AL at getting those ribbies.

...but about the same rate as Coco Crisp, the guy you want to replace Ellsbury with. Crisp has a 75% success rate this year, Ellsbury 74%. The fact that you are arguing Ellsbury is not a good base stealer is completely absurd. He stole 70 bases two years ago, but isn't stealing as much this season because he's hitting for more power, it is as simple as that.

[QUOTE]I wanted Crisp traded at the end of 2008. I want Ellsbury traded before reaching the last 2 years of CBA arbitration control.   He's getting CS because he's an easier read. His career high year does not mean he is more than his career averages. Theo has learned that hard 142M lesson with Crawford.

You mean like his .296 career BA vs. southpaws.

    And the web gets thicker...
