notin belongs in any top 5.
I'd go something like...

Being respectful most of the time while trying to get a point across is a must in my top 10.
Has notin been disrespectful?
Also, I lose out on “civil” and, frankly, I should call craze out for not mentioning that I also can be condescending. The second I saw this thread, my first thought was “No way craze lists me here. I have a better chance of being nominated for a Nobel Prize for chemistry than making this list.”
I saw someone else make a similar comment about me on the “Poster of the Year” thread, and it served as a reminder about my origins here. Back in 2006, some 9,700 posts ago, I started posting here with the singular mission statement of bringing others’ egos back into check, an ironically egomaniacal mission in itself. At that time, this board was rampant with the “This management team is stupid and I could do better” attitudes that just bothered me on way too many levels, starting with the fact that we were all of 2 years removed from winning our first World Series since World War I. There was one poster in particular back then who bugged me who used the moniker GOSOXBOSOX or something like that, and most of my first posts were nothing more than calling him out repeatedly. Another early victim was bigfoot14b (or similar). As a result of these attitudes, I came here to remind certain egomaniacal people of how little we all understand about how and why these decisions are made, and my personal goal was to cast civility aside in the process. Disrespectful? When andrewmitch had me on “ignore” on the old forum, I used to ask other people to “Reply to” my posts, so my words could be copied into one he could see. I’d say that it pretty disrespectful and condescending, and, frankly, a bit immature. (For the record, it is not easy to be both “condescending” and “immature” at the same time, but I think I pulled it off there.) Along the way, I have probably irked a lot of people, many of whom have departed (like GOSOX and bigfoot), presumably not because of me but rather because they have actual lives.
If anything, I think my callousness has mellowed in time. I do still poke fun at georom, who still evinces that old board attitude on occasion, but who also can take a message board post with some modicum of humility, and has been here at least as long as I have. I also no longer have prolonged multi-day arguments with garyhow, another from way back. Lately, I have gotten more into annual comical predictions and trying to work out a solid method of statistical projections. Much more harmless stuff. (Although the predictions are frequently disrespectful to Kenny Williams.)
But every now and then, the old original notin likes to rear back and fire at someone with some form of diluted crassness. Basically, if you have received some disrespectful response from me, it was probably because your ire was either misinformed or misdirected and I felt needed a reminder. But this certainly does not happen with the same frequency it once did, and nowadays is usually softened with some old fashioned silliness. Or you can be Bill-806, but really I am probably his least harsh critic. (But I have been picking on Bill for years, too. And honestly, I doubt he cares.)
Of course, what might go unnoticed by those I offend is that I call myself out more than anyone else except maybe softlaw. And when I do go after me, I hold back even less. (Why? Because I think it’s funny; that’s why!) I might be disrespectful; I might not be civil; and I might be condescending. But at least these traits start at home…
Nice explanantion, and I admit you have civilized yourself over time, the thing is, most of your baseball insight is top notch and sensible, trashing others is wasting your talents, stick to baseball, and we'll all be smarter for it.
