    Ode to a Red Sox Morning

    Oh woe is me
    this dawn does bite
    our beloved Red Sox
    lost last night.

    ... But cheer up now!
    'tis not so bad
    Yankee fans
    are thrice as sad!

    They lost, too,
    and they're nearly last
    and their darling A-Rod
    now has cast

    A compelling frown
    above their chins
    where heretofore
    were only grins

    and grins
    and grins
    and grins some more
    and on some of them
    three or four!

    So really now
    the day's quite swell!
    A-Rod's stink
    does really smell

    way down there
    in New York

    ~~~~
    where the biggest star
    is made of pork.
    Not bad.  I'm not so sure the Yankees fans are all that distraught.  They saw this coming, plus many of them did not agree with the infamous re-signing taking him to $27M/year thru age 42.  If he is suspended thru 2014, I believe the Yankees FO can use some of that money to acquire other players, so their fan base might be happy with this latest turn of events.  The bad news all year long for the Yankees wasn't A-Rod, but all those injuries, which are still a problem.
    Agreed.  The back page of the NY Post this morning, or was it yesterday, says it all.  They want A-Rod's money back.
    And that's precisely why the fact that A-Rod has enough money to win at least half the battle and get back by mid-year next season should cheer up all us sox fans.
    The Yankees, to the best of my knowledge, have never won a playoff or World Series match with a team with a higher payroll.  A-Rod will help preserve that tradition for a few more years.
