I'll add, with the tremendous season and, especially, postseason David has had, I think it was beyond disrespectful to have him answer for something that never should have made press to begin with, and, again, wasn't even current. Sore losers on the Letterman show. IMO
Probably still haven't gotten over Matt Damon on Letterman. That was classic and hilarious.
This is the first time I disagree with you and respectfully so. Letterman has all athletes on and if he was blind siding them, they would not go. Ortiz is more than just professional athlete, he is a professional in dealing with the media. I bet he travelled with a publicist who also looked at the questions before the show.
In addition to being a class act, Letterman is a decent athlete who can throw a football well.
This is the guy who Johnny Carson hand picked to replace him. After Johnny retired he never went back to the tonight show, but he did visit Letterman's show when it was in LA for a week. Johnny came out and sat in David's chair and david went to the guest's. Johnny kept writing jokes for David until he passed, which David devoted a monologue to.
The guy owns his show and his writers don't make him asks questions.
I wasn't really slamming Letterman. He had fun with Matt Damon and his comments after he showed up in a Sox jersey. He told him he was going to need security to escort him out after the show. Even the way it was asked, seemed like he was just reading it. Not really a full question at all. Like I said it's just getting old, and this isn't even the same team.
