Red Sox Spin on having Miller Pitch Thursday

I love the spin the Red Sox put on by saying that with Miller pitching Thursday in Texas instead of Wakefield, it will give their starters an extra day of rest.

    Translation:

Wakefield has no chance of getting win number 200 and we want the shenanigans to end so we are letting him start at home against Oakland.

Nice try...the real reason is two fold, Wake has always struggled in Texas and by pushing him back they set up the rotation for the Yankee series (Beckett, Lester and Lackey)...

Beckett has also struggled in Texas so it is better that he pitches at home. My source was Remy and Orsillo and their sorce was probably Tito and Theo. What do they know. EVIL SPIN SPIN SPIN

Oakland or AAA team is no sure thing for Wakefield. This move isn't to hide a Texas embarrassment to donkeyfield, it's to line him up for Yankees.

You know what shenanigans I want to end? ADG posting negative threads since you don't really post on the board unless it's to start a negative thread. You've been here since 2009 and nobody knows who you are.

funny how won/loss records can deceive. boston has a better winning percentage than texas, but, clearly, texas is the better team.
btw, thank you yankees for being the sox's beatch so far this year.
the sox wouldn't be where they are without you.

Tito just do not want to lose the series to Texas which that was why he juggled around the starting rotation.  Wakefield can pitch against weak Oakland A'S team this weekend.

It seems to me that they know Wake will get pounded by the Ranger's offense.  They figure he will have a better chance at home against Oakland.  There is entirely too much focus on Wakefield getting his 200th.  Sox are in a pennant race. Sadly , next year it will be the same thing as Wake struggles to break Sox all time win record.

What ever the reason, Wake shouldn't even be on the roster, much less in the rotation. He was done years ago.

^^^ Please supply stats to back this up.  When doing so, you should compare him to other #5/6 starters of course (which is what is is paid to be).

Oh, and for the clueless ...  Wake's start got moved because: a) Miller actually has a better chance of bringing the Sox a win v. Texas; b) set up rotation for Yankees.  Tito and the rest of the RS org can't wait to see him get #200, but they aren't doing anything to achieve this that will cost the team a chance of a win.

Wakefield has certain parks that haunt him--Texas, Anaheim are two of them. There are certain parks, he has historically pitched very well in--Tampa and Oakland. This is not rocket science, but trying to make sure he doesn't throw v. New York when he's thrown well several times v. New York, that's when it's over managing.

Also don't forget if Miller throws, good chance it's a tag team followed by the hot Aceves.

Texas has free swingers, free swingers are the type of guys that have Wakefield's number, and he's historically not pitched well in Texas. Again, not rocket science.

Oy vay.  You can put whatever color you want on the "spin".  But, there isn't one manager in the game who would tell the press "we pushed Wake back because he is likely to get shelled by this team".  That would be stupid on a few levels.  And , in any case, inserting Miller on thursday DOES give the starters another day of rest, which is a good thing.  Especially when that extra day of rest lines up the ro for a very meanigful Yankee series.  It's a no-brainer really.  Standard issue.
