Rules for posting on this forum

TV Guy was nice enough to find the forum rules. I think this deserves to be a sticky top of the list thread so people can clearly understand what constitutes proper behavior here. Yes, these rules can be found elsewhere, but I think they should be visible at all times. Here they are:

RULES FOR COMMENTS ON FORUMS AND ARTICLES

    • Be courteous. Don't threaten or verbally abuse other users; use obscene, profane, or defamatory language; post sexual innuendo, or deliberately disrupt discussions with repetitive messages, meaningless messages, or spam.

    • Use respectful language. Our community will flourish only when our Members feel welcome and safe. You cannot use language that abuses or discriminates on the basis of race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, region, disability, etc. Hate speech of any kind is grounds for immediate suspension of your commenting privileges.

    • Debate, but don't attack. In a community full of opinions and preferences, people always disagree. Boston.com and BostonGlobe.com encourage active discussions and welcomes heated debate in our Forums and on our Articles. But personal attacks are a direct violation of this Agreement and are grounds for immediate suspension of your commenting privileges.

    • Your comments must be truthful. You may not impersonate another user or a Boston.com or BostonGlobe.com staff member by choosing a similar screen name. You must disclose conflicts of interest.

    • Do not upload inappropriate material. You cannot post, distribute, or publish any libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive, or otherwise illegal material. You may include links to other sites, but those sites must meet the same guidelines.

    • Do not post commercial material. You cannot, without the express approval of Boston.com or BostonGlobe.com, distribute or otherwise publish any material containing any solicitation of funds, advertising, or solicitation for goods or services.

    • You are solely responsible for the content of your messages. You cannot knowingly post content that violates the copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property right of any third party, and you must remove the same should you discover that you have violated this provision. Likewise, you cannot post content that is libelous, defamatory, obscene, abusive, that violates a third party's right to privacy, that otherwise violates any applicable local, state, national or international law, or that is otherwise inappropriate. You indemnify Boston.com and BostonGlobe.com, its employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims and/or damages (including but not limited to reasonable attorneys' fees) resulting from any claim brought by any third party relating to content you have posted.

    Ironic, coming from TV Guy

I understand who that is, but I think its important to judge each post individually. Everyone here has the capacity to contribute in a positive manner and does so with varying frequencies. I thought Pike's post was useful and the information contained in it should be right at the top of the list of threads permanently.

Thanks pumpsie, for trying to be a good citizen.

I have my doubts as to how many of the offenders will actually care.

But, your effort is noted and I thank you for attempting to improve a forum which once had a much higher entertainment value....now, it's mostly an excercise in futility.

what a laugh from a poster who got banned on numerous boards.

Not to mention Pike who has how many screen names?

But he seems to be doing ok on this board.  Are you jealous?

I would just ignore him Jackbu. He is the only poster I have had to put on ignore as I think he offers nothing but personal attacks here. The only way I can see what he writes is when someone quotes him. For the record, I was banned on one board because that board could not handle the kind of opinions that Moon and I have been espousing here: that this team as currently constructed, because of the questions about the SP, is not a contender for a ring. My posting style has not suddenly changed since I left there. Its the same here as it was there. TalkSox is highly censored and many people there get banned. Its a private board and since its their ball, they can decide who plays. I do not miss it.

As CEO of a major corporation and a Billionaire who is married To Miss Kentucky 2008 a lot of people ask me how I got where I am today?

    The answer?  always be truthful.

You're welcome! Some of us are trying to get Dottie to appoint some of the posters to be on site mods, at least on a trial basis. Southpaw 777 said he would do it, and I would support him in that role. It IS possible for us to police ourselves better if we had the power to do so.

DAD & BILL-806 are available to help out too !!   Finally, with these "clear rules" we are on an even playing field with the government telling us how to play good with each other .......  Really, starting tonight all sports teams will no longer need to keep score of the games (look at all the $$$ that they would save with less people on the payroll.....& no more SODA being sold at the park) that way everyone gets a ribbon & a ice cream after every game !!    Enjoy, all !!

I would as well like to volunteer my services as board monitor. I think we need two, one from each side. As this board is split down the middle.

Actually, better yet, we all should be "mods", since we all have a high trust for each other, ya think ??????
