Scott Boras will have Jackie Bradley Jr. on the Yanks in 7 years

Think about it. Johnny Damon(CF)-Scott Boras. Then Jacoby Ellsbury (CF)-Scott Boras. It just makes sense then when Bradley Jr.(CF)-Scott Boras is a free agent in 7 years when Ellsbury contract runs out he will be heading to NY the second his contract runs out to take over for Ellsbury. Seems like the rudderless Yankees are a safe haven for Bor-ass clients. Lets enjoy the Bradley years before he leaves.

It's really odd that you are concerned about a Red Sox player possibly going to the Yankees in a half a decade+ from now.

    Who cares?

Good, since Red Sox won 3 WS titles and Yankees won one since the spending war started like 13 to 15 years ago between two clubs, that mean the Sox are more likely to win another 3 more while the Yankees just win one more!!

That is all I care.  Yes it hurted me alot to see a big time fan favorite's homegrown player going to the yankees.  But move on cuz the deal is done!!

So you are saying, essentially, that players pass through our system like food through the intestines and, in the end, wind up in the bathroom bowl that is the Yankees?

Yeah....good one!  We absorb all the nutrients and the Yankees are left with E-coli and odor.

So?  The Sox reaped enormous value from Ellsbury at a huge discount ($109m performance for $30m salary), now the Yankees give us a draft pick for the right to sign him to an enormous long-term contract during his (largely) declining years.

    Long may that be repeated.

The Yankees have few choices but to spend a fortune on the poker table.  You can count the number of farm hands on one hand who have actually made an inpact on their club since the Mo and Jeter days.  Cano of all people is someone I would expect the Yankees to do everything in their power to keep before offering out another long term deal to a player with similar talent to Granderson and less power but lets see what they do. next.

I read today CC is on the block, not sure if anyone jumps at him and they already need pitching badly.

at least the Sox get all 3 players in their prime and the Yankees can get the Sox's sloppy seconds!

We will be fine, I don't see the Sox counting on JBJ to make up for Jacoby without upgrading another area.  Otherwise I could see a package including Bradley JR. being pulled off for a big time hitter.

Who cares....I'll take 6 years of JBJ under team control and let NY overpay him and take a draft pick too.

Let's just hope that Bradley puts up 6 years worth of play that will make his market value too high for the Sox to re-sign.  I could live with that.

I hope so. That would mean JBJ played to his potential and has a couple WS rings in the process.

exactly, If JBJ ends up playing so well that he becomes the prototypical free agent who gets overpaid....then we end up being the team that had him play for the league minimum for 3 years and paid 3 years of arbitration.  Plus you get the draft pick when he leaves.

This is why teams who draft and develop well will have more of a chance in the new system.  Also the competitive balance lottery, and the new Q.O. rules reduce the amount of draft picks teams like the Yankees get.  When you factor in that the sport is getting younger, and T.V. revenue is giving all the mid to smaller market teams more money to play with we will continue to see more and more teams buy out their elite players Arbitration years and a few of their free agent years....thus dwindling the pool of elite FA available for the teams that break this mold.

NY may be better next year, but they've just kicked the can down the road, and added Millions in costs between player salaries and luxury tax costs.

Remember in the end this is a BUSINESS.  It makes sense for a large market team to overspend, if the return on that investment is more post-season ticket sales and more jersey sales etc etc etc.  Even if the Yankees have all the resources in the world that business model changes in this system, and from a business perspective it becomes less profitable to go all out and break the luxury tax every year.

Unless the Yankees return to winning back to back to back world series....this model will seriously break down for them.......and the Dodgers.

    hugh

    help me out here

    what am I missing

Also the competitive balance lottery, and the new Q.O. rules reduce the amount of draft picks teams like the Yankees get.

doesn't it reduce the team losing the FA more than the team signing one ?

NY may be better next year, but they've just kicked the can down the road,

U make that sound like a bad thing

and added Millions in costs between player salaries and luxury tax costs.

you R probably going to be right

but not yet, as of now the yanks w/cano still have a shot of lowering the payroll this yr
