Might be a good idea? Would anyone bite right now? If you wait and  he 's brittle . You get nothing in return. If he produces we keep him to another contract? Would Marlins take a chance ? Throw in half the farm also and get Stanton??

Sox are stuck between a rock and hard place with Clay. Need more Starters, because you dont know with him. Iggy was Traded because Buchholz was injured and we needed someone. You cant have 29 year olds not eating up some innings.
7.7 million this season, then goes up to 12 in 2015, I'd be more inclined, to see how season goes for the Sox and him. July 31, might be a good time to sell high, if things are not going well, and he is doing good.
He averages 6.1 innings a Start, in his career.
Lets see how the kids pan out on the Minors.

I ll take Bucholtz winning 11 games with fewer starts than Doubront and Dempster, and still he is a better option guy to use than Doubront and Dempster.

He is just like andy Pettitte of the yankees where Pettitte only had 21 to 15 starts prior to 30 starts this year.  Still he helped the team alot in the last three years.  Without him, I bet the Yankees would not have a good year two years ago to one year ago.

Well, Clay only made 5.5 millions dollars in 2013 season and he will be making only 7.7 millions dollars next year.   But for 2015 season he'll be making 12 millions dollars. So for now, he is not going to cost alot to the team for the 2014 season which I will not have any problem with that.  But  I am sure he may be trade by the end of 2014 season if he continue to have a health problem.  He will be easily trade at the end of 2014 season because the 2016 and 2017 season will have a buyout option in his contract which mean, whoever take him could let him go if they arent please with him at the end of the 2015 season.

Even at 12M hes a bargain in todays MLB for his production. Have to see how he does this year and how the "kids" develop.

Unlike you, I tend to focus on what's happening on the field.

In case you missed it, due to spending too much time in the trainer's room wringing your hands and worrying, the Sox played pretty well for those three months.

Is that what we're going to get from you next spring?

    Numerous "Buchholz is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" threads?

Yes. 12-1. In a grand total of 108 innings. He is averaging about 120 innings per year over the six years he has been with the team for any length of time. Here is another guy like Ellsbury: great when he is in the lineup, but not in the lineup enough to qualify as a full time player. Issues like this get addressed when his contract comes up. I would keep him, but if he cannot demonstrate that he is a 200+ IP per year pitcher very soon then he should not be paid like one.

How is 12 million for a platoon starter who can not finish the season healty a "bargain"?

You need to platoon him with another starter and that will run you maybe 20 mil combined.

It's time to let someone else deal with Day to Day Clay.......
