It's a position the Sox can develop good talent and use to trade for whatever they need down the road...right now the Sox have very little immediate talent in the minors for trade bait or parent club.

Good thing we won't need a 1B for at least 7 years. Also let me add that from what I've seen from Lars this spring he may be finally figuring it out.

That's God awful depth. Unbelieveable. The worst in baseball! None of those guys have any chance except for Anderson. And we cannot really expect that much from Anderson. Our best shot is to hope Adrian stays healthy and in a few years Anderson can add enough strength and technique to be a force. It could happen when he becomes a capable mlb player in the James Loney mold.

Barring catastrophic injuries, our next 1B in probably in HS right now.

Seriously, you're starting a thread to complain about who our 1B will be in the year 2019?

Seriously?  You didn't pull this from an Onion article, did you?

1B is a position that doesnt need depth if you have a perenial allstar locked up.  Youkilis could also slide over if he gets hurt.  Anderson could fill in for a month or two if the situation presented itself.

Another option is to find a corner outfielder in the system who may not have a long future playing the position.

I would be more concerned about the depth in Starting pitching and catcher.

Re: SoxProspects: Slim pickings at first

How can you have an All Star caliber player waiting in the minors in case one of your starters gets hurt?  Totally unrealistic.  And for a 1B - totally unnecessary.  Way too ez of a position to replace.  Which is of course another reason why Theo lost his way during his last couple of years in Boston......
