Swisher is not a better option than the young OFs we already have.

we got gomes starting in left......how pathetic can it get........cherinngton is a moron

Hes will be platooned with against RHP. Gomes is basically a cheaper version of Ross. LF will hide some of his defensive deficiencies. Looks at their numbers, there basically the same.

Unless Kalish is the other guy, the Sox still could use a LHH LF.  I really do not have much faith in Nava, who tends to get all his hits at once...

Berkman would be the best option. Could get him for half the price of Swisher and can still play OF in a pinch.

    Re: SWISHER or ROSS?

Swisher will most likely end up in Cleveland on a 4 yr deal...I don't think the Sox will go 4 yrs with him at what he will bring on the FA market.  The money would be much wiser spent on the SP which sorely needs the help.

    Re: SWISHER or ROSS?

For what it's worth, Nick Swisher will cost a team a draft pick but Cody Ross will not.

Of course, the Red Sox first-round pick is protected, so signing Swisher would cost only the second-round pick.
