He wasnt amazing v the Rays and has already pulled a choke job and Igleseis even made contact off him! This could come back to bite...
Yeah, one run in 5.2 IPs, for an ERA of 1.59 is about as well as one could hope for.
For the rest of the posters who actually know something about BB, the Iggy 1st AB is what worried me while he was here. Peavy walked Peralta on four pitched, walked Avila, walked Jackson on 4 pitches, and Iggy goes up swinging. When you're Miggy, you should be looking for a ball to drive. When you're Iggy, you have to make him throw you a strike.
There is nothing wrong with Iglesias as a player, but he has a special appeal to fans who think defense is measured by Web Gems alone.
He is a light-hitting good defensive shortstop. He is not the best defensive shortstop in MLB. And really, if you think the Sox need a light-hitting good defensive shortstop, there is a very good chance the Cardinals non-tender Pete Kozma.
In fact, wait 2 or 3 years and Detroit will probably non-tender Iglesias. The Tigers have had fascinations with defense-oriented infielders in the past, but it never lasts and they always cast them aside for better hitters...
