Perhaps the Angels are assuming that all of the Dodgers fans will migrate over to watching the Angels Sports Network.

Wow....With Morales returning and Wilson to the rotation the Angels are going to be a scary team.  I still think in the long term this will cripple them, but it might bring them a WS in the next couple years.

Terrible signing unless you know you are probably getting five years for 250.  He is probably older than 31 and has been on performance drugs which could leave him like Manny Ramirez despite him being a far better citizen in five or six years.  All in all a shot in the arm for a franchise that needs it but give it a few years and it will not look good at all.

I am sure the Angels would love to keep Morales as a back up 1B/full time DH, but in someway, they could trade him for bullpen pitchings.

Evne if he was 27 I'd say the Angles overpaid, but they still got the best hitter in MLB.  It makes sense for him to jump to the AL where he can DH in about 4-5 years.

In Response to The worst signing since A-Fraud:
[QUOTE]Sometimes I wonder how people smart enough to amass enough wealth to own a major league team can be dumb enough to sign a 31 year old player to a ten year, quarter billion dollar contract. It's a great day for Albert Pujols, who turned his nose up at the paltry 220 million the Cardinals offered and went to la-la land, where the REAL money is.

Re: The worst signing since A-Fraud

Angels are paying mostly for a DH for most of this embarrassingly bad value contract.

32 Years old 25 million base likely palatable performance value
33 Years old 25 M likely palatable performance value
34 Years old 25 M likely palatable performance value
35 Years old 25 M dubious performance value
36 Years old 25 M dubious performance value

37 Years old 25 M unlikely performance value
38 Years old 25 M Nearly Certain Poor performance value
39 Years old 25M Nearly Certain Poor performance value
40 Years old 25M Certain embarrassing performance value (Write off)
41 Years old 25M Certain embarrassing performance value (Write off)

100 to 125M of this contract is nearly certain poor performance or write off

No marketing PR and claims of legacy brand sales is going to recoup 30 to 50% of this cost in an already good baseball market with other big stars in more popular sports

Agon is a very good value compared to this Inesptein deal. This deal rises near the level of Crawford in terms of one of the worst value contracts in MLB history.

Hope Houston and Seattle spends some money to give Angles a run for their money...
