Theo to Oki: Clean Up Rich Hill's Mess, That's an Order!

If only Tim Wastefield was DFA'd, accepted a minor league assignment, and was ordered to mop-up Rich Hill's mess. That's not how Boston works. Any Japanese player who doesn't cross off the Red Sox, immediately, should be ready for ultimate fan abuse. Ortiz knows a thing or two about it.

Oki will be gone soon enough. He made his own bed by his comments yesterday. He's as good as gone. Let him keep pitching in Pawtucket.

ya know, opinions are just like buttholes............everybody's got one. and the way you continually put down my favorite all time active red sox player who inspite of his age can still effectively pitch, well law, if the shoe fits...........

Posted by ADG[/QUOTE]No he won't gone soon IMO. He was already DFA'ed amnd there were no takers so there doesn't appear to be a team willing to pay a $25,000 waiver fee to acquire Okajima. There is no reason for the RS to release Okajima and pay the balance of his salary. There was nobody who would pick up the salary plus the modest waiver fee.

He probably made his comments when he was told he wasn't getting the initial call-up today as while I have no first hand knowledge that makes the most sense. perhaps because it is MLB and he may not be aware of all the operational rules two things did not dawn on him.

Until the RS designate Hill on the 60 day DL calling him up or Miller would require making a move on the 40 man roster. The other thing is that if he wasn't claimed when he was DFA'd to make room on the 40 man roster, he isn't trade material.

Nobody in MLB saw any value in his salary and $25K just a few weeks ago, so he will need toil away in Pawtucket and change that for the time being.

Oki cleared waivers. That means no team wants him. That should tell you all you need to know. Now, he has an attitude to boot. He does not realize how well he has been treated in Boston. Go figure.

It's too bad that so many players leave the Red Sox organization with hard feelings.

I am trying to remember the last guy who left the team and wasn't kicked out the door by media, fans and organization.

Possibly Doug Mirabelli or Mike Lowell.

maybe I missed it but what players were butthurt that Boston let them go?  it is a business, should Theo get petulent when a player signs elsewhere?

as to Oki - anyone could have had him for cash. what makes his agent think anyone will give up anything in a trade?

he has been paid well by the Sox, he has a ring and if he pitches well a good chance to come back up to Boston.

when did hard work become such a problem for major leaguers?

You are missing the point of this garbage thread.
The disturbed one draws a bigoted analogy of Oki to good ole' boy Hill, who the disturbed one blames for getting hurt.

Perhaps I'll start a similar one where Theo blames Dice for his injury and orders Wake to "clean up the Dicey mess"...

won't get anybody for the okajima...has only 2 pitches, the okie & the dokie...unless a sucker team like the rockies gives up a good single A arm for the future  (i.e as in trade for manny delcarmen). just release the okie...he's no good

Oki needs a reality check. Not one team claimed him off waivers. Why does he think that they now would actually trade for him. He should realize that he has been treated very fairly by the Boston organization. Do your job at Pawtucket and keep your mouth shut, and you will get another shot.

my point exactly. at some point players need to face facts. and you are right - Boston has played him well and kept him after last year.

Re: Theo to Oki: Clean Up Rich Hill's Mess, That's an Order!

The mess is Hill, a reclaimation project, breaking down like a balsa airplane! There was no way Hill was going to do anything but break down, taped up and throwing the ball in a terrible motion. He was a local guy who made most Red Sox fans feel good about him for a short period of time. Politics is why he was given a chance in Boston, as he was not in good enough physical condition on stamina for any other team to invest time in him.

Despite the popularity meter, Hill is a loser. Oki is and will always be a proven winner.

I would like for each poster on here to list the game log of Oki since he returned from the DL in 2010.

The reason he wasn't claimed is that other teams are waiting it out so that the Red Sox get stuck paying a large part of the freight. Despite the arrogance and bigotry of 5K, Oki understands the rules because he has an agent. He is letting the Red Sox know he's had enough of the jerking around and wants to be traded. Theo is using the leverage of Oki not having 5 years of MLB service, and putting him in the proverbial outhouse.

Oki made a terrible mistake in signing with the Red Sox. Any Japanese player that signs with the Red Sox is out of their minds! I seriously doubt any top Japanese player will be signing with the Red Sox anytime in the future. Both of these players did more for Red Sox championships than Tim Wastefield did in his entire career!

Mike Lowell complained and carped and was allowed to squat on the roster and was given a "Day of Honor". What a joke! The media and most Red Sox fans are captiously jeering as these Japanese players are put in the outhouse. I guarantee you there will be no "Day of Honor" for DiceK or Oki!!!!!!!!!

I'll always be a Red Sox fan, but I'm no fan of most Red Sox fans!!

I still never understood why they tried to change the regimen of Dice-K.... its as if they paid all that money for a pro and then tried to turn him back into a youngster they could mold into one of their own.

    Makes zero sense.

Re: Theo to Oki: Clean Up Rich Hill's Mess, That's an Order!

It made zero sense alright, for a GM not to understand that before spending the money. Bottom line, DiceK was an integral part of the division title in 2007 and he pitched well again in 2008. Contrast that to Lackey, who blames his teammates and claims he performed well when he performed lousy. Trust me, there will never be the bust outcry on Slackey. That's reserved for those who most Red Sox fans don't identify with because of physical characteristics.

The bad part is that Theo feeds this character flaw monster that most Red Sox fans have.
