    This team...

This team is a laser show away from getting hot. They called up Nava (Even though i don't like the fact that they sent down mort) and now we don't have to worry about Mcdonald... Pedroia needs to start the laser show. When Pedroia gets hot this team will get hot. Calling it right here: Pedroia starts the laser show; Red Sox get hot and go on a winning streak. Beckett will pull it together tonight he's had around a 2.9 era his last 3 or 4 starts. Lester might be pulling it together and Bard and Douby are doing pretty good.  All we need is Clay and a little bit of hitting and this team will be ready to go. LETS GO RED SOX! LASER SHOW TIME!

    Re: This team...

Better this OP than all the negativism.  If Beckett can be Beckett tonight, then just a few key hits off Lowe and the Sox get game one.  Buchholz in #2 is a worry, but who knows?  His insane record is 3-1.    I think Doubront and Bard have decent shots in games 3 and 4.

Last year the big complaint with the lineup was too many lefties, but this year the problem has been too many righties.  Still, the Sox have scored the 2d most runs in the AL.

This is a good team whether people want to admit it or not. We just need to replace the AAAA players with some younger talent.

pedey has been a laser show  so im not exactly sure what he is saying...the pitchers turning it around is simply fantasy...they are terrible and the odds say Beckett throws a stinker because he has pitched decently the last 4 times....as for Nava...im glad to see anyone new play right now but he was OK the first time around...

    We could start winning if

    *  If Clay Bucholtz can pitch like it's 2010

    *  If Josh Beckett can pitche like it's 2007

    *  If Jon Lester can pitch like it's 2008

Stop me when you get it.............

This team needs its current starters to pitch well. This team needs to attempt to move a few phat contracts. This team needs to believe in its youth more. This team needs Bobby V to be Bobby V. This team needs to start playing quality baseball, fundamental baseball. This team needs to reduce its metal mistakes. This team needs to start living up to its contracts. This team needs to start supporting and believing in itself. This team needs to give its fans something to cheer for.....

...and I agree but it sure is asking for a lot to happen awful fast with a team whose FO won't spend a dime more to improve them...much less dump some phat contracts.  We can hope...

The frustrating thing for all is the talent level on this team. There is more than enough talented players on this team(even w/ the injuries) to have a much better record. The core players of this team need to be better bottom line.

Pedroia has been good... He hasn't been great like he can. Also if you don't think Nava is going to help... Are you saying that Nava is equal to Mcdonald? No... Nava is much better than Mcdonald and should help our team.
Beckett has given up 9 runs in his last 27.2 innings. His only bad start this season came in his first start where he gave up 7 runs in 4.2 innings. Every other game he has given up 3 or less going atleast 6 innings.
Lester has had two bad starts one where he gave up 7 and one where he gave up 5. Take out the game where he gave up 7 ER's and he has around a 2.9 ERA.
Daniel Bard has been good and if Valentine learned how to manage him his stats would be even better.
Douby is on and off and is a pretty good #5 imo.
The only question mark that hasn't started pulling it together is Buchholz.
If I'm doing the math right that's a 4.72 ERA including the bad starts for everyone but buchholz. If you add each of their last 5 starts not including buchholz they have a 3.8 ERA. That's not too bad in their last starts. The pitching is coming around and so will this team.

Nava or a bag of eggs may be better than a guy like DMac in our lineup but neither are great OF's

Love the optimism but man is this team disappointing so far.  They are finding ways to lose games in what should be the easy part of the schedule.  Not a single key player other than Papi is pulling his weight.  Still time to salvage a season but the soap opera needs to stop now and guys step up.  4 - 1 early vs Indians with 2 HRs off Beckett does not suggest they are feeling any urgency.

    Re: This team...

ZACK5042 on what planet is the Sox pitching coming around? Please let me know so I can go there and watch good baseball. Their ERA is the worst in AL and just got worse. I love the "and if you don't count the last 10 games the ERA is 1.33" yeah and if you don't count all the skanks I've hooked up with they've all been 10s. Also, if you think BUCH is the "only question mark that hasn't pulled it together" you need to have a separate post of what pulling it together means. The staff has been terrible. God awful. Horrendous. ERA is only one facet to how bad the starters have been- they also never pitch late into games. Which makes a bad bullpen even worse. You can blame Bobby V. and AndrewMitch can blame Theo, but eventually you have to blame the people that actually throw, catch and hit the ball.

andrewmitch - A lot of these people are hoping and hoping they turn it around, but you can only turn it around if the players comit and be successful. Unfortunately, this team is going nowhere. Beckett will be out of town by the All-Star break. After his golf outing and today's outing, not one fan will cheer that bum on.

Besides, how do you turn around one of the worst teams in baseball?

You know things are bad when Red Sox Nation and the FO think that adding ANOTHER 4 inning / 100 pitch starter (DiceK) to the rotation will be a welcome sight.
