    Re: Time to redo

To make sure he finishes his career in Boston I would be OK with a 1year deal 16mil with a team option for a second with a low buyout should father time catch up with him.

Should have read the story on the homepage before posting Bill.

There was an agreement before Ortiz signed his two year deal in 2013.  No renegotiating til this one is done.  He's got another year to live up to on his current contract.

If both sides wanted to get an extension done (it sounds like Papi does, at least), would this really get in the way?

    Re: Time to redo

No need.  RS have him for 2014.  If he does not show signs of meaningful deterioration, both parties will be happy with a one year contract with management option on a second year.

Red Sox 2013 World Series Champs.  Patriots 2014 Super Bowl Champs???!!!
