It's an adjustment period for both pitcher and hitters. Plus a couple of gift strike calls recently. Maybe to keep game in reach? I dunno.

So Buck doesn't have Verlander and Scherzer to 'fellate' anymore so now he has Beltran I guess.

Nothing spectacular with his catch he reached up and caught it and barely if at all left his feet to do it.   Tori Hunter's attempt was far tougher.
Buck was emoting to that fact that he prevented a GS. He wasn't comparing the catch to that of Tori Hinter's attempt. It was a dramatic moment. How did you react? Did you over react?

Use obscene language here and you will be banned. J-Bay will see to that. Or will he? Do you belong to the fraternity?
That was a great catch.  The way he made it look easy was the best part.  To be fair they did say Tori's attempt at a catch was much harder.

He has...but in his case it might be too little to late 80 pitches...through 4 not long for this game....

That's not the first time Gomes has done that this postseason.

What a play by Gomes!  We keep underestimating this guy at LF, & he KEEPS delivering!  Time & time again.  I've got a highlight real going in my head of all the great catches this season,  & the guy is flat out money.  Nava is getting boned, but Gomes pumps us up!

You must have jinxed him with that praise.  Less aggressive base running by Robinson and there would have been no error.

Getting a bit more stressful at times but the sox are getting the job done. GO SOX!

I guess it didn't take long for him to bobble the ball and let the guy advance, eh.

Glad Sox got out of that inning unscathed though.

Gomes does bring something to the team that inspires them.  Nava is better in everything, but doesn't seem to inspire his team much like Gomes.

Ted Williams had to hit the ball another 30 feet for a home run.
good point and something which is never mentioned when people start with the talk that Ortiz is more valuable to the sox than ted was.  Not to mention the years ted took out of his career to fight for his country.
It would be a good point if it were true.  Bullpen was constructed in 1940, essentially for Ted Williams.
Babe Ruth on the other hand would have had more HRs with that bullpen.  In his last year with the sox, 1918, he led the league with 11 HRs, when he played as a pitcher, of and 1b for 99 games.  All 11 hrs were on the road.

Don't like how they've stagnated. Even at 5 cards are still in it. Would have like another couple past few innings.

Looks like Sox have decided 5 runs are enough for this game.

If Lester can have a quick 1-2-3 inning, he could go for 7 innings.

Lester should be good for at least 3 of them if he can get another clean 1-2-3 like here in the 6th.
