Re: World Series Game 4 Thread: Red Sox at Cardinals

That was just as sad an ending for the Cards as it was for the Sox yesterday.  Payback time.

That was a very slick move by Koji.

Need 2 out of 3 games to win the series, with Lester starting tomorrow, followed by 2 at the Fenway as needed.  Suddenly for first time since after game 1 the chances for Sox to win the series is better than for Cards, at least in my biased mind.

We can win this series.  We can win tomorrow.  The Cards are a tremendous team, but we can find a way.

Potential game 7 pitchers Peavy (2 innings), Doubrant ( 2 or 3 innings), Lester (an inning or 2) maybe Clay for an inning to go along with Tazawa and Koji?  Leave Breslow on the bench.

I agree.  They were lifeless after game one until that pep talk today by Papi.

You know (I'm a Red Sox fan, by the way), I really don't think that McCarver or Buck are all that biased. Stupid? Certainly. Biased? No. Cool ending either way, though.

I think Farrell benched him to begin with... honestly... stick with it and make him a pinch runner/fielder when needed.

Game ball for Doubront tonight.  He was stellar.  The Lackey move had me scratching my head though.  Does Farrell think that Tazawa is only good for one hitter per game?

Well at least Farrell is keeping us all intensely involved in each game. Using your game 6 starter for an inning of relief in game 4. What will he think of next? I'm really beginning to hate him...

    [/QUOTE]

His use of Lackey was puzzling.  And his use of Breslow was plain wrong.  But we'll take the W, great going Koji!

Credits to Buchholz, Doubrount, Gomes, and as always Big Papi.

Breslow...needs to figure something out. I still think he can contribute in this Series.

    Gutsy performance by Buch.

Papi showing great leadership by pumping up the team.

Drew with a big Sac Fly.

    Gomes being "the man".

    Doubie was fantastic.

    Lackey too.

    Koji, Koji, KOJI!

We overcame some mistakes and sucked it up when we needed to, like we have all year long.

We got the home field back, the DH back, Lester up next, and a never say die attitude.

Some good points are that Jon Lackey only threw 17 pitches, not many for Tazawa, and Koji either. Point being they should all be aavailable for tomorrows game with the exception of Lackey.
