Yes, Virginia, there will be a next year

    Fenway

    I’d like to stroll

    Around Fenway Park

    Some night when it’s snowing

    And really dark.

    I want to hear

What goes on with the ghosts

    And I want to lift

    A few goodbye toasts

    Not so much

To the Teds and the Groves

    But to the unknown kids

    Who came in droves

    Their numbers are millions

But they’re not on the wall

    They just came to see

    Their heroes play ball.

    I want to tell them

    I can hear the crying

    Because it looks like

    The new guys aren’t trying.

    But, this too will pass

    A new day will come

And next year we’ll be beating

    A brand new drum!

    Hear, hear.

    This is baseball.

There is ALWAYS another season - another chance to get it right.

The FO had courage in blowing it up. Now we get to see what's down on the farm and what sort of players are available in FA.

    (Not much, I am afraid.)

But that's okay. As Ron Washington says, "That's how baseball go!"

Re: Yes, Virginia, there will be a next year

I'm thinking of next season and wondering if the Youk Man's contract may not be picked up by the White Sox and the Sox could offer him a 3 year deal to come back and play 1 B. That would solidify the infield once again and add a power RH bat to go with Brooksie and possibly a rejuvinated and healed Ortiz. If they sign Ross I could potentially see a nice middle of the order.
    Ells, Ciriaco(SS), Pedroia, Ortiz(DH) Youk(1B), Ross, Middlebrooks, Salty, Brentz(RF)

A little different lineup than the one the Yankees will face this week.
