With all the news about Sox maybe involved in a big trade to get some young offensive players in the line up, why not look at Atlanta
Then Sign Dunn/Griffey/Baldelli for Left field....get the power behind Ortiz and solidify our Catching situation

Dunn is only one with Power of your three unless this is Griffey of 1996.
Bay will be a very good player for this team this year. Catcher is a non-issue, TEK will be back on a 1 or 2yr deal with something to prove. If not, sign another veteran FA like Zaun. We don't need to have All Star at every position. Tek for 2 would put us in line to make a push for Mauer in 2010.

Trade Bya-and then who do you get to replace him? Those guys are great to ADD to a team with Bay. Let the guy have a full year in Beantown to show us what he's got!

So Atl wants a guy w/1 yr left under contract and a AAAA catcher for a young, LH hitting, all-star, local-boy catcher???...who knew?

you leave atlanta with out a catcher and if you think kottaras can hack it in the MLB your wrong. the backup sammons in atlanta sucks, you leave atlanta with a platoon of kottoras (limited mlb expeirence/243 at pawtucket) and sammons (sucks/148 while backing up mcann). Atlanta may look scarce in the outfield but they have several young outfielders, gregor blanco, jason heyward, brandon jones, and josh anderson who they all have bright hopes for. not to mention they still are probably holding out hope that matt diaz and jeff francoeur to return to their old selves. also kelly johnson can easily be switched to an outfield spot. they need more starting pitching and the last thing they wanna give up right now is their awesome catcher who can handle their young pitching staff. bad trade. not to mention that bay is gonna be a free agent at the end of the season. so a sucky catcher and a free agent pending for one of the best all star catchers in the game. i dont think so.

horrible trade for Atlanta
Just cuz Bay and McCann have similar stats does not mena you can just asume things... McCann is their Dusty.. younger/cheaper/harder position/more popular/long tern deal
