    Famous folks from Quincy?

    What do you think of our list of celebrities who've said they grew up in Quincy? 

    Does someone not deserve to be on this list because they weren't around long enough? 

    Did we forget anyone?

    Agreed — Ruth Gordon should be on this list. Henry Beston, author of The Outermost House, and sculptor Carl Andre (whose Quincy childhood was discussed in a recent New Yorker profile) also seem like notable omissions.

    Please be accurate...John Hancock, John Adams, and John Quincy Adams were all born in Braintree.  Quincy did not exist at that time...

    Thanks for the feedback-- we added clarifying language where applicable. 

    We do not intend to make a list for Braintree but wanted to include those important figures so we put them in the Quincy gallery. Also because their historical homes are listed these days in connection to Quincy and not Braintree.

    HoJo had a candy factory near where St Anns School once was , on Old Colony Avenue , for many years
