Boston is No. 1 on Parenting magazine's 'Best Cities for Families 2012' list: Share your favorite family-friendly aspect of Boston

Parenting Magazine thinks Boston is the best place to raise a family. That's right, Boston ranked No. 1 this year on the magazine's annual "Best Cities for Families 2012" list. Go us!
How was it calculated? The magazine ranked 100 cities based on education, health, community, charm, and culture, using nearly 4,000 pieces of data. The obvious reasons why Boston topped the list, according to Parenting, was our "thrilling hometown baseball team, incredible institutions of higher learning, gorgeous parks, historical neighborhoods and a new highway system."
Other factors the magazine took into account? The White House selecting Orchard Gardens K-8 for a prestigious art program led by famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Boston Children's Hospital housing the world's largest research center based in a pediatric hospital, and the Boston Children's Museum's $365,000 grant to ensure programs appeal to all children. Oh, and the magazine was impressed that students at 25 schools across Boston are taking part in a before-school exercise program created by a local mom.
