Lowe cover.jpgJoin author Natasha Lowe at the New England Mobile Book Fair as she celebrates the release of her debut novel for readers ages 8-12! The book, "The Power of Poppy Pendle," tells the story of 10-year-old Poppy, who, to her parents' delight, has inherited the gift of magic that made her Great Aunt famous. In Poppy’s world, witches work for good and are much valued, with powers both coveted and praised. But Poppy does not want to be a witch—she wants to be a baker, and she is extremely good at baking. Her parents insist Poppy follow in the footsteps of her great aunt, but Poppy has plans of her own. Part magic, part adventure, and wholly delicious, this spirited story includes more than a dozen recipes readers—and budding bakers—can try at home. At the event, the author will read from her book, answer questions and sign copies. To satisfy your sweet tooth, there will also be home-baked chocolate meltaway cookies and caramel crunch cookies for snacking. The magic -- and the baked goods -- are a perfect way to start a school year of reading. Wed., Sept. 5., 4 p.m. Free. The New England Mobile Book Fair, 82 Needham St # 84, Newton Highlands. www.nebookfair.com
