She's not the same owl from the "Harry Potter" series, but this Hedwig is pretty cool too. Presented by Mass. Audubon, this program on Duxbury Beach offers participants a unique opportunity to observe a rarely seen animal. This Hedwig is a Barred Owl, a type that lives among us in large numbers, but are almost never seen in the daytime. With help from handler Karen Kurkoski from the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell, participants will get an up-close look at the owl, and learn all about its habits and habitats. Pre-registration is required. Meet in the parking lot at the right after crossing the Powder Point Bridge. Bring a beach chair and dress appropriately for the weather. Tues., Aug. 14, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Free. Duxbury Beach, Powder Point Ave., Duxbury. www.massaudubon.org
