Kids' Yogathon, Cambridge, Nov. 18

Join hundreds of other children and families from New England for an afternoon of yoga, fun and fundraising! At the Kids' Yogathon, little yoginis and their families can participate in a number of yoga classes, as well as enjoy live music, balloon making, and art activities, including henna and creative art -- all while raising money for a wonderful cause, Horizons for Homeless Children. This event is organized by the non-profit Yoga Reaches Out, whose mission is to bring the yoga community together to create seva (selfless service). Through the gift of yoga, Yoga Reaches Out focuses on raising funds for organizations that impact the health, education, and well-being of children. Past Yogathon events, including one at Gillette Stadium, have brought together over a thousand people and raised more than a quarter of a million dollars for charities in New England. Yoga is an excellent way to nurture a child's body, mind and spirit -- and this event, held at the Buckingham Browne & Nichols school, helps them to take their yoga practice further, by learning the value of giving to others. There is a registration fee, and each participant must pledge to raise a minimum of $50 prior to the event, which aims to raise over $300,000. Sun., Nov. 18, 1-5 p.m. Ages 3-14. $10 registration fee.
