'Maple Boil Down Festival,' Somerville, March 9

Join Groundwork Somerville on March 9th at the Somerville Community Growing Center for the annual Somerville Maple Syrup Project Boil Down. Community members of all ages are invited to watch and learn as sap from local sugar maple trees is boiled down into pure maple syrup over a warm fire. Attendees can enjoy syrup-tasting, kids’ activities, tapping demonstrations, and much more! Waffles, syrup, hot cocoa (donated by Whole Foods Market and Taza Chocolate) and T-shirts will be on sale. The Boston-based trio, Animal Farm, will perform in two 30-minute shows that will include a blend of original music, storytelling, hilarious antics and games. This unique outdoor festival celebrates the coming spring and our urban natural resources. Sat., March 9, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Rain or shine. All ages. Free.
