Just because you're not in New Orleans doesn't mean you can't have a fun Mardi Gras here in the Boston area! These two mid-day activities will let you and your little one celebrate Fat Tuesday in style:

"Mini Mardi Gras," Discovery Museums, 177 Main St., Acton. Feb. 12, 10 a.m. $11. All ages. Music makers, masquerade masks, and a mini march make Mardi Gras a mighty merry moment. www.discoverymuseums.org

"Mardi Gras Storytime and Activity," The Curious George Store, 1 JFK St., Harvard Square, Cambridge. Tues., Feb. 12, 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m. Free. Ages 2-6. RSVP required via email link on website. A storytime and crafts with masks, beads, and all sorts of artsy fun that your little ones can enjoy. www.thecuriousgeorgestore.com
