Here's a chance to explore our local coastline with experts from the New England Aquarium. Discover what lies beneath the water in and around Spectacle Island. Learn about unique species of marine life, take part in a guided beach exploration and examine how our actions can impact Boston Harbor and our world's oceans. Through interactive activities, island visitors will learn about the beach and dock areas of Spectacle Island, its resident species and what to look for. Designed especially for kids, each session will allow participants to take part in hands-on exploration and discovery of local marine life and their environment. Educators will highlight connections between humans and Boston Harbor's marine environment, encourage people to protect the oceans, and raise awareness of climate change issues. Participants can take the ferry to Spectacle Island from Long Wharf in Boston; arrive 30 minutes before departure time to allow for ticketing and boarding. Every Wednesday, July 10 - Aug. 21, 11 a.m. - noon & 1 - 2 p.m. Free, but regular ferry prices apply: adults, $15; ages 4-11, $9; under 4, free). www.bostonharborislands.org
