Koala Dayle-Sullivan-Taylor 3.hires.jpgStop by the Stone Zoo this Saturday to wish a happy 2nd birthday to koalas Milo and Thackory, who are featured in the zoo's seasonal Aussie Adventure exhibit. Visitors can learn more about the koalas and ask questions at the 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. scheduled zookeeper encounters at the exhibit. You can also sign a giant birthday card for Milo and Thackory and enjoy lamington cake samples provided by KO Catering and Pies. Lamington is an Australian dessert and samples will be available for the first 200 people. Once you've helped the koalas celebrate, you can spend a little more time down under at the Aussie Adventure exhibit, where you can see a kookaburra, wallaby, tawny frogmouth and more. Be sure to take a stroll through the aviary filled with brightly-colored budgies, who will fly around you in this interactive experience. Purchase a seedstick and you may be lucky enough to have the birds land right on it. It's a little slice of Australia -- right in our backyard. Sat., July 6, 10 a.m. Celebration ongoing until 2 p.m.; regular zoo hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Adults, $14; 62+, $12; 2-12, $10; under 2 and members, free. Stone Zoo, 149 Pond St., Stoneham. www.zoonewengland.org
