With summer winding down, this is your last chance to take advantage of Free Friday Flicks, the beloved Boston tradition of watching a movie under the starry skies with the Charles River bubbling along not far away. Sponsored by WBZ NewsRadio 1030 and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), "Free Friday Flicks" wraps up this week at the Hatch Shell with a showing of the family-friendly feature, "Oz the Great and Powerful." Pack up some beach chairs and a blanket, and bring along a picnic -- but arrive early to get a good spot. Children can burn off some pre-movie energy by playing on the nearby climbing playscape on the banks of the Charles. You can also enjoy some games, giveaways and food samples provided by the event's long-time host, WBZ NewsRadio. The show starts at dusk (around 8:30), so perhaps putting the kids in pajamas is a good idea too. Friday, Aug. 23. Pre-movie activities start at 6:30. All ages. Free. The Hatch Shell, Storrow Drive, The Esplanade, Boston. boston.cbslocal.com/flicks
