There are not many films that make your skin crawl, your knees knock, and your teeth chatter more than 1978’s “Halloween.” On the Globe’s “Top 50 scariest movies of all time”, it pops up at No. 7.

Starting today and continuing through Halloween next week, a new HD transfer and 5.1 audio of John Carpenter’s frightening flick screens nationally. Click here for a list of the local theaters that will show it.

If you need a refresher on the movie and of just how scary star Michael Myers is, here’s how www.imdb.com describes the creepy classic: “A psychotic murderer institutionalized since childhood for the murder of his sister, escapes and stalks a bookish teenage girl and her friends while his doctor chases him through the streets.” Not for the kiddies.
