Readers of the “Gone Girl,” which if watercooler talk is any indication is just about everyone, may be thrilled to hear that Gillian Flynn has signed a new two-book deal with the Crown Publishers, a division of Random House. The New York Times has the details.

Perhaps the only bigger phenomenon this year not named “Fifty Shades of Grey” has been Flynn’s best-selling novel about a husband and wife celebrating their anniversary when she suddenly vanishes. Reese Witherspoon has snapped up the movie rights with 20th Century Fox. The Times says Flynn will write an adult fiction book for Crown and a young-adult novel, her first.

If you loved “Gone Girl,” here is Flynn talking about her writing process. Who knew that chewy Sprees could be so inspiring?
