Career notes: A two-time Olympian on the track, Alejandro Suarez competed in the 5,000m in 2004 and in the 10,000m in 2008. His bests are 13:18.13 in the 5,000m and 27:43.9 in the 10,000m. A consistent member of World Championship teams since 2001, he qualified for his first World Marathon Championship Team with a successful debut in Torreon. In Berlin he says he gained valuable experience in only his second marathon. At his Boston debut he expects to break 2:10 and finish strong.

Personal notes: Suarez says, “I’m a rookie in the marathon, but I believe in myself and think I’m going to make it big in the Majors.” He trains in Queretaro, Mexico, under the direction of Isidro Rico. He is married to Karina Martinez and the couple has two daughters Alexandra and Lucero.
