Alejandro Suarez Hometown: Queretaro, Mexico Age: 29 Personal best: 2:13:33 (Torreon, 2009) Career notes: A two-time Olympian on the track, Alejandro Suarez competed in the 5,000m in 2004 and in the 10,000m in 2008. His bests are 13:18.13 in the 5,000m and 27:43.9 in the 10,000m. A consistent member of World Championship teams since 2001, he qualified for his first World Marathon Championship Team with a successful debut in Torreon. In Berlin he says he gained valuable experience in only his second marathon. At his Boston debut he expects to break 2:10 and finish strong. Personal notes: Suarez says, “I’m a rookie in the marathon, but I believe in myself and think I’m going to make it big in the Majors.” He trains in Queretaro, Mexico, under the direction of Isidro Rico.
