Power restored after downed wire delays Green Line service near Newton Centre Station
A downed wire near Newton Centre Station delayed the MBTA’s Green Line D branch during rush hour Friday evening, a spokesman said.
Nearly 400 feet of overhead wire fell, delaying rides by more than 45 minutes said the spokesman, Joe Pesaturo, in an email. The MBTA initially posted an online alert about the interruption at approximately 5:30 p.m. Power was shut off and 90 passengers were escorted off a trolley and brought to Newton Centre, Pesaturo said.
Buses shuttled passengers between the Reservoir and Riverside stops, until normal service resumed at 10:40 p.m. he said.Zachary T. Sampson can be reached at email@example.com.
