A 22-foot Boston Whaler boat caught fire this afternoon and the flames spread to a second boat before firefighters were able to bring the situation under control, according to the Boston Fire department.
The fire was discovered around 1:30 p.m. by a person who was working on the Boston Whaler at the Neponset Valley Yacht Club on Granite Street over the town line into Milton, the department said in its official Twitter account.
Arriving firefighters found the boat with twin outboard engines “fully involved with fire.’’ The fire then extended to a second boat.
The fire caused an estimated $60,000 in damage to both vessels.
