Hyannis man accused of shooting
A 20-year-old Hyannis man is being charged with shooting another man Friday with the intent to kill him, Barnstable police said in a statement
At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Barnstable police received several reports of “shots fired” in the area of 12 Hiramar Rd., Hyannis. Officers found a 28-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim provided a description of the suspect, which police used to locate and arrest 20-year-old Di’lon Smith of Hyannis. Police said they recovered a loaded handgun with a defaced and altered serial number.
Smith is being held at the Barnstable police station on $25,000 bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday for a number of charges including assault with intent to kill and unlawful possession of a firearm.
