A 22-year-old man was killed Saturday after he crashed his motorcycle head-on into a Jeep in Franklin, while trying to pass another vehicle, according to the Norfolk County district attorney’s office.

The collision occurred just before noon in the area of 310 Washington St., said David Traub, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office.

According to reports from numerous witnesses, the motorcyclist, Garrett Haganey, of Franklin, died after he moved into the lane of oncoming traffic while trying to go around another vehicle and collided with the Jeep, Traub said.

“The initial facts appear to be that he had pulled out to pass a vehicle and was in the opposite lane,” Traub said.

Traub said the cause of the crash is under investigation by the Franklin Police Department.

There did not appear to be any negligence on the part of the driver of the Jeep, Traub said.

The driver, also a Franklin resident, was not injured, but there was extensive damage to the Jeep.
